[edit] Greetings!
I'm PanSola, a workerbee on Wikia Gaming stuff. I want to cheer you on for having started a new gaming wiki, and see if there is anything I can help a fellow Wikian with. I have been an admin on the GuildWiki for quite a while, and have hung around a number of different wikis. So if you need help with any thing, don't hesitate to ask!
Some stuff of note:
- Main Page design - It may be a good idea to make some of your main important content directly available and linked to from the Main Page. You can check out and borrow/modify a number of different layout designs from w:c:gamingstarter and various big wikis listed on the Gaming hub.
- Your user page - Use the page to introduce yourself to other new visitors, so the wiki has a more personal feeling to it and luring visitors to stay and become involved.
- Logo
- For the quartz skins (default skin that most people sees) you can upload a 266 x 75 pixels image to
. This will fill in the blank area at the top, to the left of the four links, with your image.
- For the monobook skin you can upload a 135 x 155 pixels image to
. This will replace the "This wiki does not yet have a logo" thing with your image.
- For the quartz skins (default skin that most people sees) you can upload a 266 x 75 pixels image to
- Another user called Kirkburn also has some valuable tips for newly starting wikis. You can check them out here.
- There is a Wikia gaming IRC channel, #wikia-gaming, where you can hop on, ask for help from users of other gaming wikis, or offer your own experiences. You can access it from http://irc.wikia.com/gaming . Different people may be on sporadically, but I'm hoping to organize weekly chats at a fixed time so we can get the most number of people online at the same time to ask/answer questions, or just to hang out.
If you happen to be technologically-adventurous, I can also help you with handy tools that can enrich the formatting and organization of the wiki such as templates, parser functions, and various MediaWiki extensions.
Again, if you have any question for anything at all, don't hesitate to ask me! -PanSola 22:04, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, just to follow up on the IRC chat mentioned above, it's going to take place this coming Sunday, October 14th. The time will be:
| California | New York | London |
|---|---|---|
| 1pm | 4pm | 9pm |
- I'm hoping to have discussions on issues such as how the various gaming wiki communities may help each other out, such as exchanging experiences for community development, content organization, and attracting users. Hopefully I'll be able to get the admins and founders of some of the biggest gaming wikis (such as the WoWWiki) to come and offer their experience. -PanSola 09:05, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome back
Welcome back to Wikia! The content from the old wiki has now all been imported, except for a few bmp files which we don't support here. You can find the content via Special:AllPages. Please let me know if there's anything more I can do to help you restart this wiki in its new location. Angela

[edit] Some Messages From AGT
Gaming4JC (Talk | contribs) deleted "Image:Angelofdarkness.jpg" (Copyright violation: I beleive this image is copyrighted, sorry. Perhaps upload a real picture of yourself as Adamodell did? Just blur it out or something. :-))
Why thank you for deleting an image that I had uploaded and saying that I didn't have permission to use it. I am an artist, admittedly not as active as I once was, but always have asked the original author if I could use an image of theirs, be it as a background for another piece, usually an original piece that I created. As for this image, I in fact did have permission to use it as a profile image on this wiki and this wiki only. What if I uploaded an image that I created, would you still delete it because you believe that it is copyrighted even though I created it?
What if I didn't want to upload a real picture of myself? What if I wanted to remain anonymous? What if I wanted to show the real being behind this human mask?
I ask you not to cry blasphemy at every moment you can. I know you mean well intended, but your right-hand path religion (Christianity and your so called Judeo/Christian "God") tends to get in the way of your judgment.
GodOfTitans 04:01, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
If you have created the image yourself feel free to upload it again, but please specify as such and provide all copyright information.
It would also be a good idea to say something about the image, as it seemed slightly irrelevant. If it is an avatar or fan art by you just say as much so people understand. G4JC 16:32, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] June 7, 2009
Before you go pointing fingers at me for defacing the RRR Racing Forum page, you should do some research, specifically IPs. I will tell you this, 195.238.188.164 is not my IP, but you say "but you can connect via proxy", I have zero need to connect via proxy. BTW, the IP in question is from Ukraine and if you know the slightest bit of info, Ukraine is notorious for spam operations.

No problem AGT. And thanks for the tip, I've been seeing a rise in spam on wiki sites this past week. Must be a botnet or something going around... RolledBack malicious edits. G4JC 03:26, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] New skin
Hi G4JC. I'm Swannie from Logo Creation Wiki. I am getting back to making skins and fulfilling requests that various people have made. I am on to your old request for a new skin for this wiki. Do you still want a custom skin for it? If so, can you please give me some more details for it? Let me know. Thanks! swannie LCW SW WH 16:54, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Hello Swannie, thanks for your interest in making a skin for this wiki. :-) I was looking for something similar to the FrontEnd of Re-Volt. I think it should be a fairly dark theme with a black/grey background (perhaps gradient? Fade black and grey) and white font. Hyperlinks could be orange. All the borders could be different colors as the menus are in the game. Here is a good picture demonstrating the main idea: http://revolt.wikia.com/wiki/File:Progress.PNG
Once again thanks, and if you have any more ideas, comments, suggestions let me know. I'm game for some new ideas on the skin. G4JC 20:43, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi again! I took your ideas and incorporated them into the new skin I made. To make it the skin, you have to copy and paste the code from User:Swannie/monaco.css into MediaWiki:Monaco.css. Then, you have to go to your preferences --> skin, then at the bottom there's a section titled "Admin Options". In the dropdown box for the default skin, select "Custom" and you should be all set. Let me know about any problems or if you want anything changed. Thanks and I hope you like it! swannie LCW SW WH 04:42, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks very much Swannie, I love the new skin! I've been looking around for any bugs, so far the only minor problem I have with the skin is on the "History" of pages. Any two selected revisions are a little hard to read with gray font on white. Is there by any chance we could fix this? If not that's ok, overall it's awesome! ;D G4JC 02:30, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Hey again Swannie, I just wanted to let you know some thought's I got from "TomoAlien" concerning the new skin:
It's a nice skin, but it has some problems. 1.The links to non-existing pages are black, and therefore they're not visible. 2.The text in category and contents box are having low contrast. But after all it's still nice. Oh and i would suggest fatter borders.
Any chance we could get this minor issues resolved? :-) G4JC 14:00, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Wrote Re-Volt GNU/Linux how-to
Hello G4J. It took me a few days but it's done - how-to telling how to run RV on a modern GNU/Linux box; I will try to keep it up to date.
The case is I wrote 2 of them, one should get deleted and one should be added to wiki.
Article to delete: http://revolt.wikia.com/wiki/Revolt_and_linux_(still_in_alfa_version)
Finished how-to ready to add to RV Wiki: http://revolt.wikia.com/wiki/Re-Volt_GNU/Linux_how-to
I tried to provide as much information as I could.
btw. Are there any ways to suggest you page to add or page to delete? Guess I saw some but had no time to search for them again. btw2. I thing this how-to should go to "Help & How-to" section, there isn't such section but imo it shoud be created.
Waiting for your answer.
Thank you very much for your contribution Alzen! And sorry for the delay in reply, I've been busy and hadn't noticed this post. I will add a "Help & How-to" Category as you mentioned. Also, if you wish to suggest things about a page or request deletion the best way is simply to leave a message in the articles "Discussion".
Look forward to seeing you around and welcome to the Re-Volt Wiki. :-) G4JC 01:08, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
[edit] jaseaka user page
this is jaseaka btw, and i would like this page"http://revolt.wikia.com/wiki/Jaseaka" deleted. thanks in advance :)
--216.236.162.70 12:57, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Well jaseaka, I can remove any personal information (or you can), but I would prefer to keep the page on the wiki. Since you have now been involved in track making you still belong on the Wiki under the Track Authors list and it's useful for people to be able to click on a person to find information on their creations. Hope you understand and let me know any further concerns, also feel free to edit. G4JC 23:55, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
OK, the page can stay for now. Also I don't need my edits on the page to be re-edited.
